David A. Kalkstein

Hi! I’m Dave. I’m a postdoctoral research scientist in social psychology at Stanford University. I received my PhD in Social Psychology from NYU, with a minor in quantitative psychology.

In my research, I adopt a social-cognitive perspective to study issues related to social learning, social interactions, and social coordination. Within this, I am particularly interested how people learn from and interact with diverse and dissimilar others. I investigate these issues both through online and lab-based behavioral experiments as well as through large scale interventions in applied settings.

In a second line of research, I draw on class theories within psychology to study motivation and goal-pursuit. Here, I explore how individual mindsets and social environments shape people's goal-directed behavior and self-control.

For examples of my research, check out my papers.
